Alaska Air Guard Members Push Limits in 26.6 Mile Marathon

Alaska Air National Guard members from the 168th Air Refueling Wing and the 176th Wing competed in the 31st Annual Lincoln/National Guard Marathon on May 4, in Lincoln, Neb.  From left to right with respective finish times: 1st Lt. James Zwiefel (2:59:46), Tech. Sgt. Jason De Heus (3:15:08), Maj. Paulette Goodwin (3:40:04), Senior Master Sgt. Paul Gregory (3:47:32) and Tech. Sgt. John Brunsberg, (3:28:15).   Brunsberg set a new personal record in the 26.2 mile marathon improving his time by 5 min. and 28 sec.  Zwiefel and Goodwin each earned one of 58 elite spots on the National Guard’s “All Guard” Recruiting and Retention Marathon Team.  Throughout the year the team will travel across the country competing in various military and civilian running events while promoting physical fitness, self-discipline, and esprit de corps among National Guard members.
