CAMP DENALI, Alaska --- Beginning this week, the Alaska Division of Emergency Services (DES) is sending questionnaires to all communities in Alaska. It is imperative that these questionnaires are completed and returned to DES no later than August 15, 1999.
Each community will receive, by mail, a letter explaining how the information will be used, two pages to complete, and an example of the form to follow. If anyone has trouble completing the form or has questions about the process, they are encouraged to call DES at 1-800-478-2337.
This information will be used to compile community profiles so we can assess potential problem areas that may arise during Y2K events.
At approximately 2:00 am on January 1, 2000, DES will start calling each community to find out if they are having any Y2K related problems in the areas identified on the questionnaire. This will allow the State to respond quickly to Y2K incidents.
We are asking your assistance in completing these forms as quickly as possible. Any questions about these questionnaires, please call 1-800-478-2337 and ask for Paul Varady, Regional Services Y2K Assessment Coordinator.
Thank you in advance for actively participating in this
statewide project.
