Alaska Army National Guard Honors Soldiers Home from
Deployment
FORT RICHARDSON, Alaska
– Josiah Maiorano, 6,
stood in line for a balloon sword with his father, former Alaska
National Guardsman and Eagle River resident Steven Maiorano, who
deployed with 3rd Battalion, 297th Infantry from
2006 to 2007. Spc. James “Chuckles” Bearup, a chaplains’ assistant for
the Alaska Army National Guard’s 207th Infantry Group
dressed up as “Chuckles” the clown and made balloon toys for the
children of previously deployed Alaska Army National Guardsmen during
the Freedom Salute Ceremony March 1 at Buckner Physical Fitness Center
on Fort Richardson.
