Disaster Aid Application Deadline Approaching
Affected individuals, private non-profits and govt agencies must call to apply before July 31
CAMP DENALI, Alaska – The application period for Koyukuk and Nulato individuals, private non-profits and government agencies affected by the recent Yukon River flooding ends July 31, 2001.
On May 31, 2001, Governor Tony Knowles issued a State Disaster Declaration for the villages of Koyukuk and Nulato as a result of damages to homes and public property experienced during the recent flooding of the ice-jammed middle Yukon River.
According to Kerre Fisher, public information officer with the Alaska Division of Emergency Services, residents, government agencies and private non-profits may be eligible for disaster assistance under the Governor's declaration.
"Anyone interested in applying for the assistance should contact ADES immediately to start the application process. To apply, they can call ADES at
1-800-478-2337.
"We will accept applications for assistance through the end of July. The deadline for application for assistance is July 31, 2001," Fisher said.
