Training Matrix
Purpose: The following matrix provides basic guidance for emergency management and Incident Command System training for specific positions. Each position was assigned to one of four categories: Planning, Response, Recovery, and Training and Exercise. This organization is for convenience, but some positions may apply to several categories. Check another category if you do not find the position you are looking for.
Contact information: The matrix is under review, and we welcome suggestions for additions and revisions. Send comments to training@ak-prepared.com. If you wish to speak to a Training Officer, contact information is located on the Training web page of the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS&EM) website. The toll-free number for DHS&EM is 1-800-478-2337.
Instructions: Click on a category to view a list of positions. A scroll bar will appear on the right side of the list if it exceeds the viewable area. Next, click on a position to view the training recommendations. Training categories may include, but are not limited to Hazardous Materials, Incident Command System, NIMS compliance, Independent Study, Alaska State courses, and Emergency Management Institute (EMI) courses. Many of the courses are available online, and course titles link to the training when possible. Some courses may be provided by a variety of vendors, so specific course numbers may not be included.
